This piece renders Verse 31 from Surah Maryam: “And He has made me blessed wherever I am (وجعلني مباركا أينما كنت)” in the highly decorative Diwani Jali script. Arranged in an oval circular shape with a dynamic extension of the letter Kaf, this artwork is a study in grace and artistic ingenuity.
The concept is Radiance. The oval shape provides a gentle frame for the blessing, while the extended Kaf breaking the top boundary adds a sense of movement and “reaching out,” symbolizing how blessings are not confined but extend beyond their borders.
Diwani Jali is used for its ornamental brilliance. Its hallmark dense dotting and intertwined letters provide a rich texture that turns a short verse into a detailed, visually complex, and highly majestic composition.
The composition was crafted by establishing the oval frame and then “nesting” the Diwani Jali letters to fill the shape. We specifically designed the Kaf to arc gracefully out of the oval, ensuring it didn’t disrupt the balance. The final design was vectorized, with careful attention to the density of the dots and the smoothness of the curves.
