This project transforms the name “Islam Salim – اسلام سالم” into a decorative, crown-like emblem. Utilizing the fluid and cursive Diwani script, the letters are interwoven to form a majestic silhouette that resembles a royal grail or a crown.
The concept is Personal Sovereignty. By creatively combining the Mim and Alif letters to form the upward-reaching “peaks” of a crown, the calligraphy bestows a sense of dignity and high status upon the name. The balanced arrangement reflects a harmonious personality, where every letter supports the overall regal structure.
Decorative Diwani is the perfect medium for figurative art. Its innate flexibility allows the name to take on a physical shape (in this case, a vessel or crown) while maintaining the seamless, connected flow that is characteristic of traditional Ottoman court scripts.
The primary challenge was ensuring the dual names remained legible while contributing to the “grail” shape. We meticulously aligned the vertical strokes to create the “handles” and “rim” of the emblem. The final piece was vectorized to ensure that the cursive elegance remains fluid and professional at any size.
