Surah Al Fatihah In Classical Thuluth Arabic Calligraphy

This project presents the “Opening” of the Quran, Surah Al-Fatihah – سورة الفاتحة, in its entirety. Rendered in the timeless Classical Thuluth script, the surah flows across a single, dignified horizontal line, capturing the essence of the seven oft-repeated verses.

The concept is The Straight Path. By arranging the complete surah in one continuous horizontal line, the design mirrors the “Sirat al-Mustaqim” (The Straight Path) mentioned in the text. It serves as a visual meditation on the sequence of praise, worship, and supplication that defines the daily prayer of a believer.

Classical Thuluth is the gold standard for Quranic manuscripts. Its elegant proportions and majestic verticality provide a sense of authority and peace. The script’s balanced “tashkil” (vocalization marks) adds a layer of intricate beauty that complements the profound meaning of the verses.

Given the length of the surah, we focused on the horizontal rhythm to ensure the viewer can follow the text seamlessly. The final piece was vectorized, preserving the sharp pen-strokes and the delicate contrast of the ink, making it suitable for high-end gallery displays or premium print editions.
