In this exquisite and elegant Arabic calligraphy, the verse of light (آية النور), verse 35 from Surah Al-Nur (The Light) is beautifully inscribed in the Thuluth Jali script. The translation, “God is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, The lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly white star, Lit from the oil of a blessed olive tree, Neither of the east nor of the west, Whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. God guides to His light whom He wills. And God presents examples for the people, and God is Knowing of all things,” is eloquently presented. The calligraphy is arranged in two horizontal lines, with decorative ornamental arabesque patterns flanking each side, resembling stars. The Thuluth Jali script used in this composition imparts an elegance and majesty to the letters, which are skillfully combined together. Despite the length of the verse and the intricate details, the calligraphy showcases a harmonious blend of artistic design and meaningful content, making it a visually captivating representation of the sacred verse.
