Bahaullah In Tughra Script Arabic Calligraphy

This artistic calligraphy presents the name Baháʼu’lláh (بهاء الله) rendered in Arabic calligraphy in the Tughra style. The composition is both unique and visually striking.

Traditionally, a tughra includes three prominent vertical extensions known as tughs (or flags), which rise upward from the main body of the design. In this artwork, however, the form has been thoughtfully customized to accommodate the two-word structure of the name. Because the name itself is distinctive and meaningful, the classical tughra structure has been adapted to harmonize with the specific arrangement of Baha and Allah.

Unlike a traditional Ottoman imperial tughra, which follows a fixed and formal structure, this version reinterprets the style in a more personalized way. The letters are arranged creatively, departing from strict convention while preserving the essential spirit of the form. The result is highly artistic, elegant, and unique.

Although the tughra style is known for its complexity and intricate interlacing forms, this particular composition remains remarkably readable. Historically, the tughra functioned as a complex and highly stylized calligraphic monogram used as an imperial emblem. It was intentionally elaborate, designed more as a powerful symbolic signature than as text meant for easy reading.

This artwork successfully balances complexity with clarity, transforming the name into a refined emblematic composition that is both decorative and meaningful.
