This project explores the delicate interplay between perception and presence. The phrase “Spectrum of Shadow” (طيف الخيال) is rendered in Thuluth Jali, a script renowned for its architectural precision and rhythmic gravity. This design captures the abstract essence of “shadow” as an evolving, fluid entity, grounded by the undeniable strength of traditional ink artistry.
The creative vision here focuses on the concept of equilibrium. By juxtaposing the sharp, vertical dominance of the script with the subtle, lingering curves of the ligatures, the design mimics the way light shifts across a surface. The composition is circular yet dynamic, suggesting that while shadow may seem intangible, it possesses a distinct structural beauty when captured in ink.
Thuluth Jali was chosen specifically for its capacity to handle complex layering without sacrificing legibility. While the script is traditionally formal, its application here prioritizes the “Jali” (large-scale) aesthetic, using the characteristic heavy, bold strokes to ensure that even at a distance, the phrase maintains a commanding presence. It bridges the gap between classical formality and modern, minimalist logo design.
Constructing this piece required a delicate management of negative space. To achieve the “complex yet simple” requirement, I focused on the mizan (proportional system) to ensure that the interconnected letters felt organic. Rather than allowing the text to become cluttered, I utilized controlled spacing to create “breathing rooms” within the composition, allowing the viewer’s eye to follow the flow of the letters intuitively without feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of the strokes.
This design serves as a versatile logo, engineered to retain its sophisticated impact across all media. Provided in high-resolution vector format, the artwork is infinitely scalable.
