This poignant project features the evocative lyrics from the Rahbani brothers’ tribute to Jaffa: “I Remember One Day I Was In Jaffa (اذكر يوما كنت بيافا)“. Rendered in Classical Thuluth and enclosed within a delicate spherical frame, the calligraphy captures the deep longing and nostalgia for the historic city.
The concept is The Globe of Memory. The spherical shape represents a world preserved in the mind, a “bubble” of nostalgia for a home left behind. The thin lines surrounding the sphere act as a fragile boundary, protecting the precious memory of the city and its refugees’ yearning to return.
Classical Thuluth was chosen for its emotional resonance and timeless elegance. Its flowing lines perfectly mirror the melodic nature of the Rahbani lyrics, adding a layer of visual “song” to the written word.
The text was carefully curved to fit the spherical interior, maintaining the vertical integrity of the letters while following the circular path. The final design was vectorized to ensure the delicate framing lines and the emotional strokes of the script remain flawlessly sharp.
This vector file is a moving choice for cultural exhibits, historical publications, or personal art pieces that honor the heritage and memory of Jaffa.
