This artistic composition translates the words “Love and Peace” (حب وسلام) into a graceful silhouette of a flying dove. By utilizing the cursive, flexible nature of the Diwani script, the letters are meticulously woven to form the bird’s wings and body, with the calligraphy culminating in an olive branch held within the dove’s beak.
The concept is Harmonious Symbolism. By embedding the text directly into the figurative shape of a dove, the message and the medium become one. The fluidity of the Diwani script is uniquely suited to represent the softness of feathers and the elegance of flight, turning a powerful concept into a tangible, visual emblem of tranquility.
We employed the Diwani script for its highly cursive and decorative nature. Diwani’s ability to “bend” its letterforms without breaking its calligraphic rules allows us to create complex, organic shapes that remain legible while maintaining an exquisite aesthetic.
Construction began by mapping the silhouette of a flying dove. We then wove the letterforms of “Hub wa Salam” into the contours of the wings and chest. After refining the ink-work to ensure structural flow, the piece was vectorized. We performed manual node-editing to ensure the curves of the dove’s wings are perfectly smooth and the calligraphic weight is balanced throughout the shape.
