This project commemorates the iconic lines of Mahmoud Darwish: “I long for my mother’s bread and my mother’s coffee and my mother’s touch (أحن إلى خبز أمي وقهوة أمي ولمسة أمي)”. Rendered in a circular Thuluth arrangement and centered with an intricate geometric mandala, this piece is a heartfelt tribute to nostalgia and love.
The concept is The Center of Nostalgia. By placing the geometric mandala in the center, it acts as the “heart” of the longing expressed in the text. The circular Thuluth script orbits this heart, representing the memories that return to us in cycles.
Classical Thuluth was chosen for its emotional depth and structural rhythm. Its interconnected, flowing nature mirrors the nostalgia of the poet, while the mandala provides a culturally rich, meditative frame.
We drafted the circular layout to allow the text to breathe around the central mandala. We carefully balanced the size of the text with the complexity of the mandala to ensure neither overwhelmed the other. The final design was vectorized, with careful node-editing to ensure the circular text and the intricate mandala are crisp, clean, and perfectly aligned.
This vector file is perfect for personal, heartfelt art, commemorative gifts, or literary-themed decor. The vector format preserves the intricacy of the mandala and the flow of the Thuluth script across all media.
